Clinical Evaluation (AP001 – 35 hours, 10 classes): This course will provide a concise definition of intake, screening and assessment, including the necessary skills and tools for completion.
Treatment Planning (AP002 – 30 hours, 10 classes): This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the treatment planning of chemically dependent clients. Terms and concepts related to theory, research and practice will be reviewed. This class will discuss and explore the formulation of treatment plans from the assessment process and the review of plan and re-assessment of clients.
Case Management and Referral (AP003 – 15 hours, 5 classes). This course will provide a concise definition and professional skills for best practice of case management (service coordination) specific to the treatment of addiction.
Counseling (AP004 – 50 hours, 17 classes): Part I, will provide the knowledge and skills of various addiction models from current research and best-practice literature for counseling. In the conclusion, Part II, application of these models and balancing counselor attitudes will be learned in didactic exercises.
Client, Family and Community Education (AP005 – 15 hours, 5 classes): This course will provide the resources and skills necessary for client, family, and community education on the prevention and treatment of substance addiction.
Documentation (AP006 – 15 hours, 5 classes): This course will provide the knowledge and skills for the accurate record keeping of all client-related data within the treatment process from the client’s initial screening to the discharge summary.
Ethical and Professional Responsibilities (AP007 – 30 hours, 10 classes): This course will provide the knowledge and skills for administrative, clinical, and evaluative process of monitoring, assessing, and enhancing counselor performance specific to the treatment of addiction in the role of supervision.
Understanding Addiction (AP008 – 45 hours, 13 classes): *Includes Gambling & Eating Disorder This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the treatment of addiction. Terms and concepts related to historical context, theory, research, and practice will be reviewed.
Treatment Knowledge (AP009 – 45 hours, 13 classes): *Includes Personality Disorders. This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the treatment of addiction and the knowledge needed to have in depth understanding of theory and practice.
Application to Practice (AP010 – 40 hrs, 13 classes): This course will provide the knowledge and skills which meet the obligations of an addictions counselor to adhere to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct and continuing professional development as related to Application to Practice. Understand the established diagnostic criteria within the continuum of care.
Professional Readiness (AP011 – 40 hrs, 18 classes): This course will provide the knowledge and skills which meet the obligations of an addictions counselor to adhere to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct and continuing professional development.
Supervision (AP012 – 16 hrs, 6 classes): This course will provide the knowledge and skills for administrative, clinical, and evaluative process of monitoring, assessing, and enhancing counselor performance specific to the treatment of addiction in the role of supervision.
Pharmacology (AP013 – 20 hours, 6 classes): This course will provide an overview of the physiological functioning of the human anatomy, with special emphasis on the brain and central nervous system.
